Two constables killed in road mishap

Deogarh: Two constables were killed in a road accident in Bargarh district on Tuesday afternoon.

Reports said the two constables of Special Security Battalion—Umakant Rajhans of Sunapasi village in Deogarh district and Prafulla Behera of Kantapalli village in Bargarh district— were on the way on a bike to their mess inside Battalion premises at Kansar after purchasing grocery from Tileibani market when a speeding truck coming from the opposite direction hit the bike killing them on the spot near the Durga temple at Tileibani on National Highway-49.

Tension ran high in the area after irate locals blocked the NH disrupting vehicular traffic for nearly two hours.

Following information, police rushed to the spot and took the bodies for post mortem.

Efforts are on to trace the erring truck driver who fled the area with the vehicle soon after the mishap.
