Campus polls triggers unrest across colleges
Bhubaneswar/ Kendrapara/ Bhadrak/ Cuttack: While the college-level notification for students’ union elections was published today, unrest escalated in colleges across the State.
In Kendrapara, Marshaghai College authorities had to announce sine die closure after ruckus over cancellation of students’ union election. According to sources, a group of students went berserk demanding students’ union elections.
In another incident in Bhadrak, bomb hurling and ransacking were reported from Dhamnagar College. Sources said, that two student groups clashed inside the college over union elections. A bomb was hurled at an abandoned room within the college campus, while furniture and other equipments inside the college office were ransacked.
Meanwhile, the student union advisory board of Revenshaw University decided to conduct elections. Uncertainty had prevailed over the elections in the university after incidents of violence over the past few days.
