Six get 10-yr jail term in Paikamal gangrape case
Baragarh/Padmapur: The additional and District Session judge at Padmapur S.A.K. Zahir Ahmed on Wednesday sentenced six persons to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 20,000 on each of them for kidnapping and gangraping a Dalit woman in May 2009.
The accused had lured the girl with a promise of giving her a job of an Anganwadi worker and then took her to a godown in Paikamal village, where they allegedly committed the crime.
The court pronounced all six persons – main accused Mahesh Agarwal, Kunal Singh Beriha, Pintu Pradhan, Sajjan Agrawal, Kamalesh Srivastav and Gunanidhi Bag – guilty after taking evidences from 38 witnesses into consideration.
