New Delhi/ Bhubaneswar: Sesa Sterlite’s Jharsuguda aluminium smelter plant has won first prize in “National Energy Conservation Awards -2014” in aluminium sector for exhibiting and discharging its commitment towards environmental conservation.
A company press release said, the plant has bagged the award for second successive time for its initiative towards energy conservation.
President & COO, Sesa Sterlite (SSLT) Abhijit Pati received the award from Union Cabinet Minister for Power and Coal, Piyush Goyal during “National Energy Conservation Day Celebrations” organized by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) at New Delhi on 14th December, the release added.
Earlier this year, the company’s smelter plant has also received ‘Excellent Energy Efficient unit’ award from CII and ‘Best Energy Efficient project realised abroad’ in ENES’2014 organised by Ministry of Energy, Government of Russia.
Implementation of projects like pot cell voltage reduction by lining design change and fuel oil consumption reduction by process optimization have helped the company to bag the awards, it further said.
