Bhubaneswar/Balasore: The Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Khurda on Thursday handed over the four-year-old girl child, rescued from a locked room of a house in Bhubaneswar four days ago, to its Balasore counterpart.
As per the decision of the CWC, the girl child would stay with her father, grandfather and grandmother in Baleswar. The parents of the child, who had filed an affidavit before the local magistrate stating about the custody of their child, submitted it later to the CWC, Khurdha.
Acting on the affidavit, the CWC Khurda took the child along with her parents to Balasore on Thursday where it handed over the child to the Balasore CWC.
The CWC, after ensuring the safe custody of the child, would hand her over to the family members.
Notably, members of the Ruchika Childline, by the order of the additional district magistrate (ADM) had rescued the child from a locked room of a house in Kalarahanga area on October 12.
Later, they had handed over the child to the CWC, Khurdha.
The mother of the child, Sudeshna Das, who works in a private hospital in the capital city, used to go out for duty after locking her daughter inside the room for about eight hours since six months.
