Bhubaneswar: Noted lyricist Nizam passed away at the age of 62 in a private hospital here. He had been unwell for a long period and was admitted to the hospital for treatment.
Nizam started his career in 1977 and he did not look back after that. Source said he was suffering from kidney failure.His body has been taken to his residence at Sutahata in Cuttack where eminent cine artists, musicians, singers and his relatives were found gathered to pay last respect to the departed soul.
The body will be cremated in the afternoon at Daragha Bazar, family sources said.
The Odia film industry and Nizam’s fans have expressed shock over the demise of the lyricist. ‘Mu je eka pagala bhanara’ and ‘Hrudaya ra ahe sunyata’ are some of popular Odia songs written by Nizam.
Reacting to the news, eminent singer Prafulla Kar, said, “It is a bog loss for Odisha.”
