Process to cancel license of illegal dance bars begins

Bhubaneswar: A day after the joints raids on three bars by the Commissionerate Police and the Excise officials, the process has begun for cancellation of license of the bars that are running illegally in the capital city.

Briefing the media on Thursday, police commissioner RP Sharma said the license of the bars would be cancelled if the concerned owner fails to give properly explanation.

“The commissionerate police would write letter to the Excise department for cancellation of license of these bars,” he added.

It may be mentioned that the Commissionerate Police and the Excise department had carried out a late night raid on four bars— Hotel Dipali, Hotel Green, Ashoka, Rain-The Bar— in the city on Wednesday and served notices to three bars for flouting norms.

Four teams of both the departments conducted the raids.

The police commissioner on Wednesday had also informed the media that a joint team comprising excise officials and policemen will conduct surprise raid on dance bars and take strong action against bars flouting any fixed norms.
