Bhubaneswar: In an effort to check malpractice during the Plus-II theory examinations which began today, the State government has put in place a 5-tier squad system.
Officials said in addition to the existing four-tier squad system adopted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) after the incident of question paper leak in 2013, the Department of Higher Education (DHE) has formed another squad from this year to make surprise visits to the examination centres.
For each district, 30 flying squads have been formed and every squad will be managed by the district-level consultant (DLC) appointed by the DHE. Three college officials of lecturer-rank will form a squad.
The State has been divided into four zones – Central (Bhubaneswar), Southern (Berhampur), Northern (Baripada) and Western (Sambalpur) – and a deputy secretary has been assigned by the Council for each zone. Each squad will cover minimum two colleges everyday.
As many as 3,71,920 students are appearing the examinations in all four streams of Arts, Science, Commerce and Vocational courses. This year, 1,029 examination centres have been set up across the State.
The examinations for Arts and Commerce streams would begin from March 3 and 4 respectively.
