Odisha mulls special corridors for fire vehicles
Buhubaneswar: The State government on Monday said it would set up at least one fire station in each block across the State along with a plan to create a special corridor for fire vehicle like ambulance to ensure quick service.
Attending a seminar on Fire Safety Measures in High-rise Buildings, chief minister Naveen Patnaik said, “State government intends to have one fire station at least in each block of the State and we are working towards it and we hope to complete it within a year”.
As of now, Odisha has 282 fire stations and with a plan to setting up 53 more the total number will reach 335 by end of this year.
The State government has been making efforts to make fire service more accessible to villages and also reduce the response time in case of any mishap, the CM told newsmen at the seminar.
Besides, the chief minister also handed over appointment letters to newly-recruit fire brigade men and drivers.
