Odisha govt disbursed Rs 7cr in 14 drought-hit districts

Bhubaneswar: In the backdrop of rising farmer suicide cases in Odisha, the State government today said it has disbursed Rs seven crore in 14 drought-affected districts.

Informing this to media Revenue minister Bijoyshree Routray said, “Odisha government has started the process of providing financial aid to drought-affected farmers and Rs 7.28 cr has been disbursed in 14 drought-hit districts.”

The minister stated on top of the amount, a total Rs 111.13 cr has been sanctioned for 21 drought-hit districts.

Notably, about 70 farmers in the state have allegedly committed suicide because of crop failure and burden of loan.
