Malkangiri: Director General of Police (DGP) Sanjiv Marik on Wednesday reviewed the Maoist situation in Malkangiri district.
“The focus would be on proper coordination between the Central forces and the state police to ensure successful operation against the left wing ultras,” Marik told reporters after arriving at the district headquarters office with IG (Intelligence) DS Kutte in the morning.
The duo later went to the BSF camp at MV-3 for a review meeting on Maoist situation in the district.
Briefing newsmen at the SP office after the review meeting, Marik said the meeting reviewed the commendable work of the BSF, CoBRA, Malkangiri police, District Voluntary Force (DVF) and Special Operation Group (SOG) for their successful operation against the Maoists.
“The meeting also discussed about the deployment of BSF in Kalimela and Mahupadar areas, measures to intensify operation against the Red Rebels and the need for additional deployment of force in the sensitive areas of the district,” he informed.
Referring to the surrender policy of the state government, the DGP said the meeting discussed about the modalities on bringing more number of Maoists to the mainstream and take up developmental works in the areas they hail from.
