Bhubaneswar: Expressing solidarity with the Odisha Administrative Tribunal (OAT) lawyers, all 110 bar associations across the State and 35 government organisations today boycotted the court proceedings protesting against government’s decision to abolish OAT. The High Court bar also resorted to cease work today.
A 30-member team of SAT bar association is scheduled to meet Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in the afternoon. The Odisha State Bar Council decided to join the stir at a meeting held on Saturday.
The lawyers of the Tribunal have been on strike for over two weeks. A 12-member team of SAT bar association recently met the chief justice of Orissa High Court over the matter.
However, the lawyers have decided to intensify the stir as the government has remained mute over the their demand. The High Court lawyers also have decided to cease work today in view of the interest of lawyers.
