Bhubaneswar:Odisha’s Nayagarh district, which has been included in Centre’s girl child security campaign, ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’, will get central assistance of Rs 1 crore every year.
“It was decided in a task-force meeting chaired by chief secretary that the campaign will be started from November onwards. An assessment will be made in March regarding the progress of the programme. If it becomes fruitful, then the drive may be extended to other districts having lowest girl ratio”, Rabindra Sahoo, Nayagarh, ADM said.
Notably, Nayagarh district has recorded less girl child population in the State. It is the only district which was included in Centre’s flagship programme among other 100 districts across the country.
This apart, the meeting featured 16 other subjects including marriage registration certificate in block and panchayat levels and awareness for woman going outside the State.
“Discussion was held on the 16 priority actions of Odisha State Policy for Women and Girls-2014. Some suggestions have come out”, Vishal Dev, Women and Child Welfare secretary, said. It was also discussed that how the universal marriage registration could be made at panchayat level, he added.
