Puri: Two women, who died during pulling of chariots in the pilgrim city yesterday, have been identified, said Puri CDMO Gynanendra Sahu today.
One victim was Sushila Samantray from Pattamundai while the other one was Nirmala Barala from Nayagarh, the CDMO added.
Besides, some injured with fractures are undergoing treatment at the district hospital, Sahu said.
Notably, minor stampedes occurred near Marichikota Chhak and Market Chhak in which two were killed and more than 15 injured during the car fest.
Source said six injured are undergoing treatment in SCB hospital in Cuttack whereas more than 10 are recuperating in the district hospital.
A big mishap was avoided due to prompt response from volunteers and ambulance service, who were on duty.
