Bhubaneswar: The BJP on Wednesday asked the Odisha government to make its stand clear on Posco.
“I want to ask the state government whether it has any knowledge about law. Everybody knows that each of the mines would be auctioned after the amendment in the MMDR Act. Even the Centre cannot lease out any mines under the newly amended Act. In this context, why the state government is trying to hoodwink the people? Knowing that there is no scope for mining lease, it has deliberately stepped up anti-Centre campaign to cover up its failure and come up clean to give impression to the people about its serious concern over the future of the South Korean steel major Posco”, he said.
He said it would be better if the state government will convene an all-party meeting and inform about the talks it had with the Posco, the conditions laid by the South Korean steel company for setting up its proposed project and the benefit the people of the state will have from it.
“Let the state government take a final decision in this regard after calling up Posco for a final-round meeting on the issue”, Harichandan said.
