Bhubaneswar: Senior IPS officer of 1985 batch Kanwar Brajesh Singh on Sunday took charge as the new Director General of Police (DGP).
Prior to his taking charge of his new assignment, Singh was working as the director of the State Vigilance after his promotion to the rank of Director General (DG) this year.
A post graduate in Botany from Gorakhpur University, Singh joined the Indian Police Service in December, 1985.
He was posted as the Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Berhampur and subsequently appointed as the SP of Ganjam.
Besides, he was also the SP of Nuapada, Nabarangpur and Koraput.
After his promotion to the rank of DIG, he had worked in the PMT and Special Branch. During his tenure as the IG, he had remained in charge of Intelligence and Eastern Range.
In 2006, Singh had gone on Central deputation and worked in various capacities in the Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP).
Back to his state cadre in 2012, he was appointed as the director-cum-ADG of Biju Patnaik Police Training Academy.
In recognition of his meritorious service, Singh has won two police medals.
He will superannuate on May, 2019.
