Bhubaneswar: Putting all speculations to rest, the Odisha government on Saturday appointed 1985 batch IPS officer Kanwar Brajesh Singh as the Director General of Police (DGP).
Singh is presently the director of State Vigilance and has successfully performed his duty in various capacities.
The present DGP holding the office Sanjeev Marik has been sent on a leave. He was scheduled to superannuate in December this year.
The State government also effected a major reshuffle of the IPS officers following the new DGP appointment. YB Khurania was given charge of the director of State Vigilance.
Similarly, 1982 batch IPS officer Binay Behera was appointed as DG (Home Guard & Fire Services) while SM Narvane was given the charge of director of Biju Patnaik State Police Academy.
