Bhubaneswar: The implementation of the National Food Security ACT (NFSA) in the State will be completed by September 30 this year, informed food supplies and consumer welfare secretary Madhusudan Padhi yesterday.
Addressing media persons here at State Secretariat yesterday, Padhi said as many as 36 lakh applications out of 73 lakh applications have been digitised so far.
In the first phase, the registered beneficiaries in selected blocks will be given acknowledgement on April 11. The remaining beneficiaries will get their acknowledgments during second, third and fourth phase which are scheduled to be organized on April 22, May 1 and May 16, respectively.
There will be a provision to amend the card if any discrepancies are found after digitisation. Meanwhile, beneficiaries who were unable to register their names can enroll their names between May 25 to July 25 at block and urban local body offices.
Notably, the government has fixed eight exclusion and six inclusion criteria for the applicants under NFSA to avail the benefits of public distribution system.
The government had warned that if any undeserving beneficiary avails the subsidised food grains then the recipient would be penalised under Orissa Public Demands Recovery Act (OPDR), 1962 and legal action would be initiated against them.
