Bhubaneswar: The Committee set up by the State government to fetch Geographical Indication (GI) tag for ‘Rasogola’ will submit its interim report on October 11. According to the chairman of the committee, a final report on the same will be submitted in a month’s time.
‘We will submit an interim report in the next two to three days and will request the government to grant us 1 month to submit the final report,” informed chairman of the committee Sudarshan Das.
The Committee today held a meeting with the association of Pahala Rasagola vendors to apply for the GI tag.
It’s worth mentioning that the State government has formed three committees to counter West Bengal’s claim as the birthplace of rasagola.
The first committee, comprising seven members, will submit facts on the origin of rasagola while the second committee, having four members will study the contention of the West Bengal government to stake its claim over the origin of rasagola for fetching the Geographical Indication (GI) tag.
The third committee, comprising six members, will do necessary documentation in support of the Odisha government to place before the Centre to stake claim for patent over rasagola.
