Bhubaneswar: In a recent meeting held at the secretariat on Wednesday under the presence of chief minister Naveen Pattnaik a series of important decisions were taken. The CM has ordered to provide free blood units to pregnant women, sick children and the patients of Thalassemia, Hemophilia and sickle cell. For this they don’t have to donate blood at the blood banks in exchange anymore.
In the meeting Rs 16 cr has been sanctioned by the CM to increase the volume of the blood units at the storage and development of the blood banks.
According to sources, it also has been decided to start a post graduation course in Transfusion at the Brahmapur and Burla medical college.
As per reports, to encourage voluntary blood donation, to experiment and develop the blood samples, a Corpus fund of Rs 20 lakhs is to be made.
Notably, a decision for arrangements of 20 new mobile blood collection vehicles was also made.
