Four-year-old girl rescued from locked room
Bhubaneswar: In a bizarre incident, a four-year-old girl was rescued from a locked room of a house in the state capital on Monday.
With the permission of the Additional District Magistrate (ADM), members of the city-based Ruchika Childline rescued the girl child after breaking open the lock of the room from a house at Kalarahanga under Mancheswar police station limits.
The rescued girl child, who was later taken to the Ruchika Childline office, is in a state of shock, reports said.
“The child would be taken to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) after her condition becomes normal. The committee would take its next course of action”, said CWC member Benudhar Das.
When asked, the child said she gets afraid of being alone inside the locked room.
“Whenever I tell my mother not to leave me alone, she says she would continue to do so,” she told the media persons present during her rescue.
“Duty, duty, duty, ” the visibly upset child replied when asked why does her mother leaves her alone.
Though the mother of the child, working in a private hospital, was contacted by the members of Ruchika Childline over phone, she flatly said she cannot go at the moment.
The owner of the house informed that the woman has been staying staying in his house on rent with her husband and the daughter since last one year while she used to go out for work by leaving her daughter alone for nearly six months.
“The problem has started for nearly six months in the absence of the husband of the women. When we ask about her husband, she says he has gone on a training. We have been telling her not to leave her daughter alone. We have also told her to make alternative arrangment so that some members of her family should be with her daughter or else vacate the house,” said the wife of the house owner.
