Soro/Balasore: Former minister and senior Congress leader Kartik Chandra Mohapatra passed away last night at a private hospital in New Delhi. He was 63.
Mohapatra was undergoing treatment at BLK Hospital in New Delhi with complaints of knee pain. Last week, Mohapatra had gone to New Delhi for treatment.
As his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to ICU of the hospital on Friday. However, the doctors declared him dead at around 11.50 pm on Sunday.
He started his political career as a student union leader of UN College, Soro. The prominent Congress leader started his career in active politics in 1972 after he joined the CPI.
Notably, Mohapatra had resigned from the post of District Congress Committee president few days before his death citing health reasons.
Politicians across party lines have mourned the death of Mohapatra.
