Konark: Not only the permanent residents, but the some foreign nationals having brief sojourn here also celebrated Diwali, a day before the festival light at Lotus beach on Puri-Konrak marine drive.
Around 21 foreign tourists across the world gathered at Lotus resort beach near Konark and celebrated the event in typical regional style on Tuesday. In typical Odia attire, the foreigners were seen in a complete festive mood.
For last five years, number of foreign tourists led by Moscow-based ayurvedic doctor Michael visited the State to celebrate Kali puja and Diwali. Apart from the traditional way of celebration, they planted saplings on Ramchandi Kusabhadra riverbank. In the evening the tourists gathered on the beach near the resort and lit diyas and burst crackers.
Their celebration aimed at restoring peace and harmony in the world, they said.
