Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance today filed criminal cases against 15 including 12 civic body officials of the twin city in connection with alleged discretionary quota irregularities.
Official sources said, cases have been registered against six each of Bhubaneswar Development Authority and Cuttack Development Authority (CDA). Cases are initiated against three others for taking lands from the civic bodies, sources added.
They are booked under Section 13/2, 13/1-D of PC Act and Section 200, 202, 68, 420 and 120-B of IPC.
Acting tough on the plot and flat irregularities, the Odisha government in May had decided to scrap all allotments of plots and houses made under the discretionary quota since January 1, 1995.
After finalizing the modalities for implementation of the recommendations of the task force report it set up to review such allotments under the discretionary quota, the State government had also decided to issue show cause notice to those who have secured multiple possession of plots and houses under the quota by furnishing false affidavits, and initiate criminal action against them.
The BDA, CDA and Odisha State Housing Board (OSHB) had allocated the houses and plots to many people, including politicians, bureaucrats and journalists.
A total of 1,791 allotments, including 803 by the BDA, 921 by CDA and 67 by OSHB, would stand cancelled.
