Dhenkanal: Preparations are in full swing in the town for Gajalaxmi puja which started from Monday. Artisans are seen busy in giving final touch to the puja pandal and the clay idols of goddess Laxmi.
The entire town will glitter with fancy lights as light arches have been made in 10 km stretch road from college square to Korian by pass road.
The annual festivity will be observed for 11 days for which district administration and police have made elaborate arrangements to ensure a hassle-free celebration. CCTV cameras have been installed at all puja pandals for the first time to keep strict vigil on anti-social activities.
As the town attracts thousands of visitors across the State, the district administration have taken measures to ensure smooth traffic. Heavy vehicles, which will not be allowed to ply on the main road in the town during night, have to cross the township through by-pass road, sources said.
Phailin and hudhud had played spoilsport for last two years dampening the festive sprit in the district. However, the denizens are all set to enjoy every minute this time during the puja celebration.
