Cuttack: An ancient settlement on the banks of Mahanadi and Kathjodi, Cuttack hopes to become one of the 100 smart cities the Centre has announced recently.
Already having hogged the limelight for rich culture, education and health care services, the century-old city has a long way to go, feel the residents of the millennium city.
“Perennial issues like clogging of drains, bad traffic, and congested by-lanes are some of the numerous problems plaguing the city. But given the importance of the city in a State like Odisha, Cuttack should be picked up for the smart city tag and we too hope this,” Satyabadi Das, a local, said.
He added that the State government should ensure all the projects which are being undertaken in the city by several developing agencies are completed on time and only then can one think of developing Cuttack as a smart city.
