Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will launch the second phase of distribution of ration cards to beneficiaries under National Food Security Act (NFSA) from Mayurbhanj district on November 29, said the Food Supply and Consumer Welfare minister Sanjay Dasburma on Saturday.
In the second phase, 95 lakh ration cards will be distributed in 16 districts and 1,99,50,000 people will be benefitted, the minister added.
The 16 districts are Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Puri, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Nabarangpur, Balasore, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Rayagada and Sundergarh.
Ration cards are being distributed in 14 districts of the State in the first phase under the NFSA, which started from October2. Beneficiaries will get food grains at discounted rates from November 1.
In the first phase, the state government had distributed ration cards in 14 districts such as Kandhamal, Angul, Sonepur, Bolangir, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Nuapada, Malkangiri, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, Gajapati, Koraput, Boudh and Deogarh.
Notably, 93.35 lakh beneficiaries of 26.33 lakh families have been brought under NFSA in the first phase.
