Talcher: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik laid the foundation stone of the proposed Mahanadi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (MIMSR) at Talcher today. Union ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Piyush Goyal were also present during the ceremony.
Besides the two Union ministers, BJD MPs Tathagata Satapathy, Nagendra Pradhan, Health Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak and local MLAs shared the stage in the function.
The new medical college will have a an intake capacity of 100 seats and will have 500 beds. Rs 492.62 crore will be spent in setting up the medical college. Moreover, the medical college will be completed in two years.
Chief Minister Patnaik said the state has provided 20 acres of land free of cost for setting up of the institute by MCL.
Other CPSUs like NALCO and NTPC should also take quick steps for setting up such medical institutes and hospitals as part of their CSR activities, Patnaik said.
Also speaking on the occasion, Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said the NDA government was keen to work in coordination with the state government to ensure speedy and balanced development of Odisha.
