Balasore/Bhubaneswar: After a day-long twists and turns, the Balasore Child Welfare Committee (CWC) on Thursday allowed grandparents of the kid, who was found in a locked-up house in Bhubaneswar two days back and was later rescued, to take custody of the four-year old girl child.
Official sources said, the grandparents were conditionally granted custody of the kid, who would stay with them at their Balasore house.
Sources added, before handing over the kid, the Committee stressed on the health and education of the child who for now, will be under the active guidance of the grandparents, till further notification from the Committee.
It also asked the grandparents to take its permission if they want to move the kid out of Balasore.
“Whenever the Committee asks, the custodians will produce the child before it for observation,” a Committee member said.
Before handing over the child to the grandparents, the Committee rejected proposal of her father who sought its permission to take custody of his daughter.
“He was not allowed the custody, since his resignation was still not accepted by his employer,” a Committee member said.
Taking note that the kid is more comfortable with her grandparents, the CWC made it clear that the kid would not be allowed alone with her parents.
