Bhubaneswar: The Centre has rejected the proposal for setting up Huma Coastal Mega Food Park in Ganjam district on the ground that it did not meet the eligibility criteria laid down in the Mega Food Parks Scheme.
On September 21, 2012, the food park was accorded in-principle approval by the Food Processing Industries ministry under the scheme.
However, the special purpose vehicle created to implement the project could not meet the prescribed conditions for the final approval.
Meanwhile, out of 17 new mega food parks approved by the Centre in the country, one Seafood Park in Odisha has received its nod.
It will be set up by State-run Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Idco) at Deras in Khurda district on 100 acre of land. The project is estimated to cost of Rs 116.26 crore.
