Bhubaneswar: A Central team will soon visit Odisha to take the stock of the drought situation in the State because of deficit rainfall.
Sources said a 5-member Central team led by additional commissioner of Agriculture Ministry R.P. Malik to visit Baragarh and Sonepur districts today.
The team is scheduled to visit 8 drought-affected districts in Odisha.
The team will comprise senior officials of the Odisha Government and a representative of the ICAR-Central Rice Research Institute, Cuttack.
After visiting the sites, the Central team will hold a discussion with the State agriculture director.
Notably, the Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Radha Mohan Singh had directed the Ministry to constitute the Central team to take stock of the situation.
