Bhubaneswar: Fares were cut by 1paise/km for ordinary and express buses in Odisha, said Transport Minister Ramesh Majhi on Wendesday.
Similarly, fares were reduced by 2 paise/km for deluxe and AC deluxe buses in the state.
The new fares will be effective from today, the minister added.
Passengers will have to pay 62 paise/km to travel in ordinary buses whereas express buses will now charge 85 paise/per km after the state governemnt decided to cut fares today.
Similarly, deluxe buses will now charge 85 paise/km whereas AC deluxe buses will ask passengers to pay Rs 1.04/km.
The state government decided to reduce bus fares again after oil companies cut diesel prices by Rs 2.25/lt few days back.
Notably, on October 29, Odisha government had reduced bus fares by 1 paise/km for ordinary and express buses and by 2 paise/km for deluxe and AC deluxe buses in the state.
