Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Tuesday hiked the bus fare Under automatic fare revision mechanism.
While the fare for ordinary and express bus is hiked by one paise per km, the fare for the deluxe and AC deluxe bus is hiked by 2 paise per km.
As per a notification by the Commerce and Transport department, the fare for ordinary bus has been increased to 56 paise from 55 paise per km while the fare for the express bus is increased to 59 paise from 58 paise per km.
Similarly, the fare for the deluxe bus hiked to 76 paise from 74 paise per km while and the fare for AC deluxe bus is hike to 97 paise from 95 paise per km.
Meanwhile, the Odisha Private Bus Owners’ Association has decided to go on a strike from December 1 as talks with the State transport department failed on Monday.
Notably, the union is protesting against plying of JNNURM buses outside the cities and tax hike.
