BJP Yatra to culminate today

Bhubaneswar: Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) week-long Jagannath Sanskruti Suraksha Yatra which was taken out to make the people of Odisha aware about the lapses of Nabakalebar rituals will culminate today at Gadakhantinua village, where the daru (holy tree) of Lord Sudarsan was traced.

The yatra which was started from the Jagannath temple near Jagmara travelled through Chandaka, Khurda and Ranpur. Huge crowd was seen welcoming the yatra with enormous courage. During halts, leaders of the saffron party were seen addressing people to gain their support for the drive.

Meanwhile, the party’s plan to inaugurate the Nabakalebar infrastructure projects in the hands of some union ministers has not gone well with the ruling BJD and Congress. While the Congress leaders termed it as a publicity stunt to take credit, BJD said review of projects were more important than inauguration.

“What is the point in inaugurating the projects? Timely intervention in the construction of project works for early completion could have yielded more,” said a Congress leader.

Senior BJD leader Pratap Keshari Deb said, “We would have been happy had they regularly reviewed the infrastructure projects and tried to clear the hurdles. “

Countering the allegations, Bijoy Mohapatra of BJP said, “We don’t want to take credit in the Nabakalebar project work. All have been done for the benefit of the people and the Centre has provided all support to the projects.”
