Bhubaneswar: In a bid to sensitize the public about its various developmental initiatives BJD today took out its ‘Jansampark Padyatra’ like every year on the occasion Gandhi Jayanti. Party supremo & Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik launched the padyatra from Ganganagarpalli in the city.
Many senior party leaders along with ministers, MLAs, and workers participated in the ‘padyatra’ across 32 organisational districts of the party.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said his party, during the padyatra would apprise the people, living in rural and slum areas of the state, of the achievement of the government.
“We will try our best to fulfil the manifestos we had made during the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections,” he added.
Stating that the State government has taken steps for overall development of the backward districts, Patnaik said the Centre has stopped providing assistance to several ongoing Central sponsored schemes.
“We will not allow to stop these programmes and will continue with the state resources”, he pointed out.
The ‘padyatra’ will continue till Jayaprakash Jayanti on October 11.
“The party is highlighting the development works of Narendra Modi-led central government and the failure of the state government,” said state BJP president K.V. Singhdeo.
With the chief minister attacking the Centre for alleged the neglect of the state, Singhdeo dared him for a debate on the issue. “We dare the chief minister to join a debate,” said Singhdeo.
