Bhubaneswar: As process for BJP’s organizational poll has been started, speculations are rife on who will be on the anchor seat of the State BJP. Buzz in the political circle is that senior BJP leader Bijoy Mohapatra and the party’s vice-president Pratap Sadangi are frontrunners for the State BJP president post.
Chances of current State BJP president KV Singhdeo getting re-elected cannot be ruled out.
The saffron party’s vice-president Pratap Sadangi is having support from senior party leaders for his clear view on issues. Besides, he is well as RSS activist. He had lost the Lok Sabha election as candidate of BJP from Balasore.
Reacting to the talks, Sadangi said neither he is in race for any post nor he is interested for anthing like that. He will work for the development and progress of the pole of the State.
Senior BJP leader Mohapatra has been active in targeting the BJD government, be it Jagannath Sanskruti Surakhsa Yatra or gherao of DGP office demanding action against former Kendrapara SP Satish Gajbhiye.
Mohapatra said he will happily accept whatever responsibility will entrusted to him.
The present State BJP president Singhdeo might get re-elected if the party’s State-in-charge Arun Singh’s statement is to be believed. As per the constitution of the party, a person can be State president for more than one term.
Singhdeo said he will accept the decision of the senior leaders and work for the development of Odisha.
Meanwhile, names of Surama Padhi and Brajrajnagar MLA Radharani Panda are also doing rounds for the State BJP chief post as no woman leader from the State had hold the post.
