Bhubaneswar: Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has commissioned a 600-MW thermal power unit as part of Jindal India Thermal Power Ltd’s upcoming 2×600-MW project at Derang in Angul district, a release from BHEL said here today.
“This is the second unit of the pit-head project commissioned by BHEL,” the company said adding that the first 600-MW unit was commissioned by it in May last year.
BHEL’s scope of work in the contract includes design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of steam turbines, generators and boilers along with associated auxiliaries and electricals besides controls and instrumentation, it said.
Earlier in the month, the company has announced commissioning of 600-MW unit of a thermal power project in Chhattisgarh.
The shares of the company closed at Rs 287.15 apiece on Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), up 2.96 per cent from their previous close.
