Sambalpur: Normal life came to a standstill in Burla due to a dawn-to-dusk bandh observed by the Burla Sangram Samiti on Thursday demanding permanent land record of rights.
The members of the association blocked roads at many places bringing vehicular movement to a grinding halt in the town. All educational institutes, private organisations and business establishments remained closed during the bandh.
However, emergency services remained operational as the protesters spared the services from the shutdown.
The agitating members of the party took to the streets demanding quick disbursal of land record of rights.
Adequate police forces have been deployed at different places of the district to avoid any untoward incident.
