Cuttack: The director general of police (DGP) Sanjeev Marik on Wednesday has postponed the high-level meeting which was scheduled to be held at the police headquarters here today to find out the causes which led bottle hurling during T-20 match played between India and South Africa at Barabati Stadium here.
We will start investigation into the matter after getting a written complaint from the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA), Marik said.
According to sources, Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) president Ranjeev Biswal, secretary Ashirbad Behera, police commissioner Rajendra Prasad Sharma, ADG and Intelligence department director were supposed to attend the meeting.
On Tuesday, chief minister Naveen Patnaik had called a level meeting at State secretariat in Bhubaneswar over the unruly behaviour of the crowd throwing plastic water bottles at the playground and disrupting the T20 match between India and South Africa on Monday night.
Patnaik had also asked the principal secretary, Home, to probe into the unsavoury incident and submit a report within a month.
The chief minister also cautioned the Odisha Police and the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) to take appropriate steps to ensure no recurrence of such incident in future.
The meeting was attended by chief secretary, development commissioner, additional chief secretary (Finance), principal secretary (Home), secretary (Sports and Youth Services), Director General of Police, police commissioner, director (Intelligence).
