Astaranga murder: Accused arrested by Crime Branch
Cuttack: In a major breakthrough, the Crime Branch of Odisha Police on Thursday arrested accused in the murder of a retired DI of schools, his wife and two minor daughters at Dinadiyan village under Astaranga police limits in Puri district on September 21.
Sources at the Crime Branch headquarters said close relatives of the deceased are among the arrested persons. As many as four persons have been arrested for their involvement in the crime. Details will be provided at a media briefing at 3 pm on Thursday, the sources added.
On Wednesday, a five-member team of the CB went to the spot and collected related information.
Notably, the retired DI of schools Dinabandhu Mallick, his wife Nirmala and daughters Pranati, 11 and Saswati, 4, were found in pools of blood in their house on September 22.
Chief minister Naveen Patnaik had ordered the State Crime Branch to probe the murder.
