Puri: Police started investigation into seizure of 27 human skulls from an ashram at Siddha Mahavira Patana area of the town after filing a case on its own.
The houses of the ashram’s chief Manoranjan Jena alias Manu baba, who is an engineer by profession, in Puri and Brahmagiri were also searched by police regarding the case.
Besides, sources said the police will send the human skulls to laboratory to know its gender and age.
Meanwhile, Jena said, “The ashram is a motivational centre and I had kept it (human skulls) nine years ago to become fearless.”
“It’s also available on internet and if it’s illegal then I am ready to face the law,” Jena told mediapersons here.
The police had detained Manu baba for questioning about the activities going on in the ashram and the reason behind keeping the human skulls. However, Manu baba was released on personal bond.
