Abducted bank cashier found murdered
Angul: In a macabre case, Muralidhara Samal, who was working as a cashier in the Tube branch of Odisha Gramya Bank and had been missing since last Sunday, was found dead with deep cuts all over his body from Kasiadiha forest under Sadar police limits here today.
What makes the case nauseating is while the body was buried at one place, the head separated from torso was found lying somewhere else in the forest. Three persons have been arrested in connection with the brutal murder.
According to sources, Samal was missing since Sunday. A series of searches by his family members to find him failed to yield any result. However, they got an extortion call from Samal’s kidnappers asking for Rs 5 lakh as blood money. The family then lodged a missing case in Rasola police station.
“After getting the complaint, we tracked the phone call details of Samal and arrested the kidnappers. The miscreants admitted to their crime and led us to the spot where they had buried Samal’s body after brutally killing him,” said Hindol sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Prasant Kumar Bisoi.
“Following recovery of the body, a kidnap and murder case has been registered against the accused and we have started further investigation in that direction,” Bisoi added.
