20 days on, newborn still critical
Balangir: Even after twenty days of treatment at Burla hospital, the condition of the newborn, who fell of the bed due to alleged negligence of the medical staff, is stated to be critical. The baby is yet to regain consciousness, sources said.
In such a condition, Burla hospital authorities advised the parents of the baby to take it to Cuttack Sishu Bhaban for better treatment.
On the other hand, CDMO Rabinarayan Tripathy assured the kin of all government assistance. He said a special team is investigating the sensitive case. Strict action will be taken against those responsible for the unfortunate incident after report comes, he added.
Mamata Tandi of Bileikani village delivered the baby at Balangir district headquarters hospital on September 10. However, due to the alleged negligence of the medical staff, the newborn fell off the bed and went into coma.
The parents of the baby had alleged that the nurses demanded money for the delivery. They left unattended the infant when their demand is not met.
