10 Odia youths ‘cheated’ by Jamsedpur agency
Bhubaneswar: At least ten Odia youths have field a complaint at Jamsedpur police station after being cheated by a job consultancy firm in the city.
In their FIR, the youths who hail from Berhampur stated that Jamsedpur-based Safe Sea Academy of Marine had taken abut Rs 90,000 from each of them but they are forced to work as labourers in Goa.
The youths alleged that the consultancy firm had assured them of permanent jobs in Merchant Navy.
“We went through training for three months at the company’s Jamsedpur office. Then when we were sent to Goa for joining, we found our jobs as labourers,” said a youth.
“We somehow escaped from the place and filed a complaint,” he added.
After inquiry the police said, that a complaint has been registered and they are investigating the matter.
“From preliminary investigation it is learnt that the firm conducts short-time training programmes. We are further investigating the matter about the allegations,” an officer said.
