While 108 villages in Puri districts remained marooned, 78 villages in Kendrapara district and 11 villages in Jajpur district were encircled by flood water of river Mahanadi and its tributaries, he said.
As many as 38 persons were killed and 12 others missings in the calamity, he said. The officials were asked to disburse ex-gratia to families of flood victims, he said.
The flood had damaged at least 1,18,719 houses and paddy crop over 2,89,115 hectares. A total of 30.97 lakh people in 19 of the 30 districts of the state were affected due to the floods, Mohapatra said.
Meanwhile, the state government has asked the district collectors to submit damage assessment reports by tomorrow evening as it was expecting the central team anytime after tomorrow, said a senior official at the revenue and disaster management department.
The state government has already demanded one lakh housing units under IAY and seeds for trhe ensuing rabi crop he said.
