Bhubaneswar: The state government on Monday decided to extend the deadline of online application for Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE)-2013 from March 20 to April 2.

Announcing this Technical Education Minister Pratap Keshari Deb said, “The online registration for OJEE-2013 would be completed by April 2 whereas draft collection will continue till April 6.”

Similarly, registration for diploma courses has been extended till March 30.

“In case of diploma courses, reservation of seats for girl students has been increased to 30% from 15%,” the minister said.

For the convenience of students, the government has also made few changes in the counseling practice. According to the government’s decision, henceforth the eligible students will directly pay Rs 16,000 to colleges where they are going to take admissions. Earlier, students were required to submit the amount during counseling.

Sources said students will appear for the OJEE 2013 in around 145 centers across the state and 35 centers outside the state.

To check malpractices, two-tier observer system will be set up at examination centers, the minister added.

Replying to a query on safe custody of question papers, the minister said the department will also seek co-operation from police, collectors, school and mass education and higher education departments for smooth conduct of the test.
