Odisha doctor faces music for ‘hooliganism’

Bolangir: Krushna Chandra Pal, posted as a doctor in Titlagarh hospital of Bolangir district was transferred on charges of misbehaving with three youths.

As per reports, when Pal was on duty, three youths had visited the hospital for ‘Fitness Certificate’ to apply for jobs. However, the doctor allegedly misbehaved with them.

“When we asked Pal for the certificates, he asked us to pay Rs 1500 (Rs 500 each) for the certificates and also threatened to tear our documents if we did not pay him. When we denied, he tore our papers,” said one of the complainants, Krupasindhu Mahanand.

While the accused doctor denied commenting on the matter, Titlagarh SDMO Sujata Misha said that doctors have the right to ask for fees for certificates.

“Doctors can ask for fees for issuing certificates but cannot use force. Tearing the papers and misbehaving with the youths is not acceptable,” she said.

Meanwhile, Bolangir CDMO Satyanendra Mishra said that investigation into the incident is on.

“Pal has been transferred to the district headquarters hospital following the incident and action will be taken after investigation,” said Mishra.
