Bhubaneswar: Odisha-born Rajeev Misra, the head of Softbank Vision Fund project constituted by Japanese telecom and Internet major SoftBank Group Corp (SBG) has been elevated to the post of Executive Vice President of the Board of Directors of the corporation.

Rajeev's new post places him among the group of top executives who could succeed Masayoshi Son, the founder of SoftBank, after he decides to step down as the Chairman and CEO of the Group.

Eldest son of Maya Misra and late Mahesh Chandra Misra and a native of Bhoisahi in Balasore town, Rajeev joined SoftBank as the head of strategic finance in 2014 and took over as CEO of the $93-billion Vision Fund in 2016.

Rajeev who is also the director of Uber Technologies in India is an alumnus of University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia and the MIT Sloan School of Management. He graduated in Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.

The appointment of Misra is subject to the approval of shareholders at the upcoming Annual General Meeting scheduled to be held on June 20, 2018.

Meanwhile, Rajeev will continue to serve as CEO of SoftBank Investment Advisers.
