Bhubaneswar: State Assembly on Thursday passed the Appropriation Bill to the tune of Rs 46, 0 47. 75 crore for the financial year 2011-12 amidst Opposition walkout.

The bill was introduced by Revenue Minister Suryanarayan Patro on behalf of Finance Minister Prafulla Chandra Ghadai.

Initiating debate, the Opposition members accused the government of failing on all fronts.

However, the revenue minister claimed that the fiscal health of the state saw gradual improvement after the BJD government came to power. The plan outlay has increased six times to Rs 15, 000 crore and the per capita income has increased by 70 per cent, the minister said.

Besides, the Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) has dropped to 203 per 1000 and Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) has decreased to 69, Patro informed.
