Bhubaneswar: Senior journalist and Odisha Bureau Chief of national news channel CNN IBN- Jajati Karan has been awarded ‘RNTC international scholarship for investigative journalism course’ by the government of Netherland.

Only one from India Jajati is among eight experienced investigative journalists across the globe, who bagged the prestigious scholarship.

Through this scholarship he would get an opportunity to get training by renowned international experts in the field of investigative journalism for two weeks from April 11 at Radio Netherlands Training Centre (RNTC) at Hilversum in Netherlands.

RNTC is an international renowned media training institute and has been providing career-changing experiences and skills to media professionals in many countries for over 45 years.

The only journalist from Odisha he had won Ramnath Goenka national award in 2014 in the category of investigative journalism for news stories on Odisha mining scam.

Jajati has done several impactful investigative news including the chit fund scam, housing scam, child adoption racket and, forceful migrating laborers racket.

Jajati had also been awarded Chevening Scholarship by the British government in 2007 and got the opportunity to gain work experience in BBC London and Manchester. He was also selected for the Asia Journalism Fellowship in 2011 by the government of Singapore.

A native of Rajkanika in Kendrapara, Jajati has done post graduation in English literature from erstwhile Ravenshaw College and is an alumnus of Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) in Dhenkanal. He is the youngest son of Kunjalata Karan and Ghanashyam Karan.
